INTRODUCTION Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a complex condition associated with impairments in quality of life and comorbidities such as premature cardiovascular disease (CVD)1-4 due to RA-related and traditional risk factors.1, 5, 6 In recent years, data from several countries, including the United States, suggest decreasing trends in all-cause and CVD mortality in RA.7-10 Not all studies have confirmed this, however.
