As the AI revolution comes for jobs in all sectors, I've been thinking a lot about writing this week. Writing is something a lot of us take for granted. To me, it is an art. To a lot of people, it's a chore. It's something they gladly turn to ChatGPT or other AI services to do. I take pride in the words I choose and the phrasing I come up with. I couldn't think of turning that over to a computer. It makes me cringe just thinking about it.

I can hear the comments before I even start typing a single word. "I don't care about pride, but stop shoving it in my face." "When's straight pride month?" People in the LGBTQ+ community are humans. They are people. They deserve decency and respect just like the rest of us. Being part of society used to require that from its citizens and the community at large was expected to uphold those values.

Have you ever had to explain a joke before? You tell the joke, people don't laugh, and you worry, so you quickly explain the punch line? In politics, the expression goes, if you're explaining, you're losing. So when the province kicks off its grand Monday morning presser by saying "this isn't about banning books" and proceeds to offer explanation after explanation about why what they're doing isn't "banning books", it means you're losing.

If you thought healthcare was marred in bureaucracy before, do I have a story for you. The Alberta Government, on the Friday of a long weekend without a subsequent media conference to answer questions, announced changes to its cabinet and a number of those had to do with "refocusing" the health care system. Alberta now has 27 ministers, more than half of the UCP caucus have a minister's role.
