ABBREVIATIONS:RCCRathke cleft cystrRCCruptured Rathke cleft cystRathke cleft cysts (RCC) are benign epithelium-lined remnants originating from the craniopharyngeal duct between the anterior and posterior pituitary lobes.1 RCCs are common, having been found in 11.3% of patients in a large cadaveric study2 and are often asymptomatic. When symptomatic, RCCs manifest most frequently with headaches, visual deficits, or hormonal abnormalities,1 often leading to a contrast-enhanced brain MR imaging.
