The following recap contains spoilers for Fantasmas S1E3, “Toilets” (written and directed by Julio Torres)Fantasmas S1E3 begins with more footage from the Dodo trial. Dodo (Bowen Yang) testifies to being confused about why the elves were making toys in February and then realizing he was making a sex toy. Mrs. Claus (Julia Fox) then takes the stand and confirms that Dodo found the strap-on in the Claus home, but she says that they product-test all the toys made at the North Pole.

The following recap contains spoilers for Fantasmas S1E2, “Valued Customer” (written and directed by Julio Torres)Fantasmas S1E2 opens with Vanesja (Martine Gutierrez) telling us about how she used to go to restaurants and pretend she’d been stood up. They’d comp her meal and then she’d go home, until one night when she was so taken by the waiter she hooked up with him.

The following recap contains spoilers for Fantasmas S1E1, “Cookies and Spaghetti” (written and directed by Julio Torres)According to Julio (Julio Torres), “fantasmas” means ghosts, which is true if we’re translating Spanish to English. Of course, we’re dealing with the same etymological root with this word as with “fantasy” or “phantasm,” and I think it’s worth noting how the term connotes something illusory—an apparition, perhaps. “Ghost” might bring to mind something more substantial.

The following recap contains spoilers for Sugar S1E6, “Go Home” (written by Donald Joh & Sam Catlin and directed by Fernando Meirelles)Sugar Episode 6 is truly a well-put-together episode of television. We open with Bernie (Dennis Boutsikaris) and Margit (Anna Gunn) being informed of Davy’s (Nate Corddry) condition, and it’s not good. He’s technically alive, but the damage to his brain is such that he’ll never be able to speak or even be properly consciously aware again.

The following recap contains spoilers for Sugar S1E4, “Starry-Eyed” (written by Mark Protosevich & Donald Joh and directed by Adam Arkin)“Starry-Eyed” is punctuated by videos from Olivia’s (Sydney Chandler) Instagram account, and I appreciate how Sugar is working to flesh out her character, even as she remains missing. In the videos, she laments the harassment she’s been receiving from trolls but says she’ll persist. We see her at a women’s rights protest of some kind.

I'm gathering today that being in the National Guard doesn't count as military service, is that right?
