Photography and art reigned at Houston Center for Photography’s annual Auction & Gala. More than 300 Houstonians arrived at Hotel ZaZa for an evening of bidding high and bidding often, as the organization’s motto goes. The gala opened with cocktail hour, during which attendees enjoyed live piano music by Grayson Allbritton while perusing the prints on display from both the silent and live auctions.

It was an emotional and impactful afternoon when Crime Stoppers of Houston hosted its annual “Houston’s Heroes” awards luncheon at the Royal Sonesta Houston Hotel. One of the main highlights turned out to be the premiere Dave Ward Excellence in Media Award presented to PaperCity’s own legendary society editor Shelby Hodge. She is the first print media person to receive the award.

Houston Zoo at night is just different and Feast with the Beasts lets one experience that. Set for this Friday, May 2, this foodie-friendly event will feature offerings from more than 50 top Houston restaurants — the largest number since before COVID — as well as drinks and live music. This year, the roster includes Blood Bros. BBQ (a 2024 Michelin Bib Gourmand winner), BB’s Tex Orleans, Tumble 22, Moon Rabbit and KUU Restaurant.
