South Carolina's search for its first SEC win continues after a heartbreaking 66-63 loss at Vanderbilt on Wednesday night, where a season-worst 25 turnovers ultimately proved too much to overcome despite a valiant second-half effort. COLUMBIA, S.C. (January 14, 2025) - University of South Carolina football placed a school-record three players on the 2024 Freshman All-America team as selected by the Football Writers of America (FWAA), it was announced today. Gamecocks earning spots on the FWAA Freshman All-America squad are quarterback LaNorris Sellers, offensive lineman Josiah Thompson and defensive lineman Dylan Stewart. All three were named to the SEC Coaches' All-Freshman team in December.

South Carolina continues to strategically add depth on defense during this early portal cycle. Monday evening, they got a boost with SO CB Brandon Cisse from NC State. Cisse is originally from Lakewood High School in Sumter, SC, and recently took visits to SEC foes, Ole Miss and Florida before deciding to return to the Palmetto State. Cisse already has quality CFB experience, starting 10 games for the Wolfpack this past season.

Another intriguing name was added to that list today with the portal addition of former Alabama LB Justin Okoronkwo. Okoronkwo has prototypical size, at 6'3" 228 lbs, and still has 3 years of eligibility following a freshman campaign with the Tide. He is credited with 5 tackles across 8 games played in limited action this past season.
