The council reviewed debt capacity they have in relation to needed capital improvements, like the pool rebuilding and another phase of sewer lining work, as well as mulled the idea of allowing chickens in town.

    The fire station project for Greenfield will go out to bids now that the city council approved the final drawings at their Tuesday, April 8 meeting. The final design is very similar to conceptual drawings the council approved in February. The plans call for a 10,700 square foot fire station with some truck bays facing south and others facing east.

    Run to Revival is a recently-opened Christian mercantile that offers many other amenities in downtown Stuart. Jen Fagan, an Osceola native who studied merchandising and design in college, has always wanted to have a store, but she didn’t really know what it would look like. Run to Revival, at 123 NW 2nd Street, not only has a mercantile space that offers gift items as well as books, Bibles and Bible studies and greeting cards that are geared toward women, men, couples and children.

    Mary Sturdy-Martin of Fontanelle will serve as a mental health advocate for several area counties. The Adair County supervisors approved a memorandum of understanding Wednesday, April 9 for the position that is shared between Adair, Adams, Union, Taylor and Decatur counties. “They’re all the same agreement, it just outlines the duties for all the counties,” Adair County Auditor Mandy Berg said. “We pay initially and then they reimburse us.
