    The real problem of evil is not whether a good God would permit evil, but how we actually overcome evil. Christianity is the answer. “Be the change you want to see in the world” is a Christian ideal. There is evil and corruption in virtually all institutional power structures. Jesus taught us that Satan/”the enemy” was the king of this fallen world. The solution is building the kingdom of heaven within. We cleanse the inner vessel, the self.

    The obvious answer is no— there have been Christian/Biblical monarchies for 1000s of years — but is there more we need to consider? As someone who was raised Mormon, we were staunchly taught that America is God’s chosen “Promised Land”. Not the Middle East. Not Europe. Not Asia. Not Africa. America. America, in Mormon folklore, IS the real Holy Land. It’s allegedly where the Garden of Eden once was. It’s where the New Jerusalem will be when Jesus comes down from heaven in the future.

    There’s a whole lot of war in the Old Testament, but is War a Christian Value? How often do we “turn the other cheek” before we go to war? There’s a divide, not just in the country politically right now, but also among Christianity specifically, between the feminine, pacifist Jesus we’ve been taught for decades now, and the masculine, “trad” idea of the Christian warrior. And we’ve seen the tides turning already, and particularly among the Gen Z and Gen Alpha young men.
