CARSON, Calif. — No MLS team has ever gone 17 games without a win, and the Los Angeles Galaxy won't become the first, earning their first win of the season Saturday after a 16-game winless start to their MLS Cup defense campaign. Real Salt Lake's cold streak continues, however, finishing the month of May and the first half of the MLS season on a seven-game winless streak thanks to a 2-0 loss in Southern California.

AUSTIN, Texas — Real Salt Lake has given up a game-winner or equalizer in the final 20 minutes of its last three games, with two coming in the 90th minute or later. Wednesday's road tilt in Austin was the latest example. Newcomer William Agada scored his first goal in Claret and Cobalt in the 67th minute to give RSL a 1-0 lead only to have it negated in stoppage time for a 1-1 final score.

HERRIMAN — Real Salt Lake forward Zavier Gozo, 18, graduated from the club's academy high school on May 22. As the Eagle Mountain native moved his tassel across his cap to signify a new era, he couldn't help but let out a little extra emotion. "He looks like he's celebrating a goal," Herriman Mayor Lorin Palmer reached over and said to RSL academy director Tony Beltran. Two days later, Gozo was celebrating a goal for real — his first ever in Major League Soccer.

SANDY — It was the best start in Real Salt Lake history. Utah native Zavier Gozo scored his first MLS goal in the opening minutes and Diego Luna bagged his eighth of the year two minutes later for a 2-0 RSL lead after four minutes Saturday at America First Field. It was the fastest two-goal start in club history and the fastest in MLS history since 2018. But almost as quickly as it came together, it fell apart.

SANDY — Things got worse before they (hopefully) get better for the Utah Royals. The NWSL squad picked up its seventh loss in its first 10 matches of the season Friday, thanks to a first-half frenzy by Orlando Pride striker Barbra Banda in a 3-1 win for the visiting team at America First Field.
