The community spirit was alive and well in Penticton as local residents and businesses came together in support of the Cops for Kids Jail & Bail fundraiser on May 29th at Cherry Lane ShoppingCentre. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity and good-humoured “arrests,” the event raised over $10,000—all to support children in medical, physical, or traumatic crisis in our local region. Participants were “locked up” and challenged to raise bail through donations from friends, family, and colleagues.

Fortis BC says 3,005 customers have been without power since 3:37pmThe outage area stretches from Dilworth Mountain towards Glenmore and Union Road. A good majority of Sexsmith road is also without power. Fortis says the outage is under investigation and estimate power will be returned sometime after 6pm.

The fences have come down and the new stage in Waterfront Park is ready to welcome the next generation of events and performances. Work to demolish the old Island stage began September 23, 2024. A portion of the lagoon was infilled and then followed by the construction of a new stage, canopy and electrical upgrades. Already there’s a growing list of events set to take place at the newly opened venue including Parks Alive, Denim on the Diamond and for the first time, Rose Disco. In The News

Rick Hansen visited the City of Kelowna to introduce the Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification, a national program that helps governments and organizations assess and improve the accessibility of their buildings. A big yellow excavator has taken to the former Hell's Angels clubhouse in Kelowna. Crews spending the afternoon demolishing the site on Ellis Street which was recently purchased by the City of Kelowna. The City reported paying just under $1 million for the property which was assessed by the Province to be worth $1.2 million. AM 1150 has reached out to the City to find out what future plans for the site look like but have yet to hear back.
