    A big yellow excavator has taken to the former Hell's Angels clubhouse in Kelowna. Crews spending the afternoon demolishing the site on Ellis Street which was recently purchased by the City of Kelowna. The City reported paying  just under $1 million for the property which was assessed by the Province to be worth $1.2 million. AM 1150 has reached out to the City to find out what future plans for the site look like but have yet to hear back.

    AM  1150 reached out to WorkSafeBC to enquire about calls from the public and a local union to release its completed incident report on the July 2021 crane collapse in downtown Kelowna. WorkSafe says it will continue to withhold the information publicly as an RCMP report completed on February 20, 2024 has recommended charges for Criminal Negligence Causing Death in relation to tragic deaths of five people from the crane collapse.

    Tomorrow (Thursday, December 14) and Saturday (December 16) more rock blasting will occur on a stretch of Highway 97 between Peachland and Summerland. The highway will be closed both days between 11:00am and 12:30pm for a 1.4km stretch between Callan Road and North Beach Road. Drivers are asked to check DriveBC ahead of travelling to check for any changes or future closures.

    The West Kelowna RCMP and BC Highway Patrol have closed the eastbound lanes on highway 97C due to a commercial truck fire. The truck, which is roughly 20kms outside of West Kelowna near the Silver Creek pullout, was carrying chemicals that ignited and is making the fire fight challenging. The West Kelowna Fire Department is on scene battling the blaze and are making progress. West Kelowna RCMP is advising motorists traveling eastbound to avoid the area.

    A drug advisory for Interior Health (IH) has been issued as of today, November 14, 2023 for fake Dilaudid tablets containing Isotonitazene. The health authority says the drug looks like 8mg Dilaudid tablets or Hydromorphone tablets and is sold as Dilaudid, Hydromorphone and Dillies. The tablets are said to contain 5 per cent Isotonitazene and pose a very high risk for overdose.
