The Pixel 8a is a bit of a conundrum. It's not the most powerful mid-range phone, it doesn't have the best display in this price range, doesn't have the best camera hardware, doesn't have the best battery life and isn't even super affordable. You could look across phones at similar prices from Nothing, Poco, Redmi, Motorola, OnePlus and Samsung -- and find areas where it's easily outperformed. And yet, it's one of my favourite mid-range phones ever launched. ...

Garmin added a new, budget-friendly AMOLED-equipped watch to its Forerunner range. This is the Forerunner 165, which costs around $250 in the US, or £250 in the UK. Technically, this particular model is the Music version, which costs about $50 or £40 more, but either way, it's cheaper than the Forerunner 265 models, and more expensive than the entry-level Forerunner 55. For the money, it's actually brilliant.

Nothing's approach to tech has been refreshing -- to say the least, especially when it comes to the mid-range, affordable smartphone market. If nothing else, it's nice to see a company doing things differently. In fact, in a lot of ways, I think the Nothing Phone 2a -- with its price tag of around £320 in the UK and $350 in the US, but only as a developer device -- is a much better value proposition than what many regard as the best mid-ranger, the Pixel 7a.

The one-handed mode makes it easier to reach the top parts of the display, and there's also a one-handed app launching feature for convenience. OxygenOS 14 includes various customization options such as personalized accent colors, completely round app icons, and the ability to sort apps by usage for better organization.
