AbstractEpigenome-wide association studies (EWAS) are transforming our understanding of the interplay between epigenetics and complex human traits and phenotypes. We introduce the Methylation Screening Array (MSA), a new iteration of the Infinium technology for scalable and quantitative screening of trait associations of nuanced ternary-code cytosine modifications in larger, more inclusive, and stratified human populations.

AbstractThe Infinium Methylation BeadChips have significantly contributed to epigenetics research, particularly in population epigenetics studies, by enabling numerous epigenome-wide trait association discoveries. Here, we design, describe, and experimentally verify a new methylation array, the Methylation Screening Array (MSA), to focus on human trait screening and discovery. This array utilizes extensive data from previous Infinium platform-based epigenome-wide association studies (EWAS).
