Hold on! That’s all I have to say as the Winnipeg Jets head out on their player break, followed by the all-star break, and won’t skate in a team practice until Sunday. The banged-up Winnipeg Jets are getting this break at just the right time.

I’ve had to pinch myself about six times over the weekend … and honestly, it’s still something that I’m having a bit of trouble wrapping my mind around. A team from Winnipeg, the Jets, can’t be in first place in the entire National Hockey League, can they? Apparently, it’s true — and checking the standings about 20 times over the last 48 hours has confirmed that, 20 straight times. It’s happened. They’re there. Right at the top.

Dom, it’s mindless, but this boils down to essentially if Hellebuyck’s stick “deflected” it (no goal) or “propelled” it (good goal). If he would have just let it in, based on the official on ice explanation that it was kicked prior, yah… it wouldn’t have counted.

@CamAtNoon So what there saying is for Helle not to try to save it…Huh…unbelievable

It shouldn’t be allowed to be a goal, in my opinion, but the silly nuanced rule book, combined with the trajectory of Hellebuyck’s stick that caused the puck to go into the net presents an argument that I understand, I get it, unfortunately.

@CamAtNoon So just to be clear by @NHL logic: a failed save on a kicked puck to the net is a good goal. Helle wasn’t supposed to try touch/save the puck and in the high speed of the game just notice the puck was purposely kicked towards the net for a goal. 🤔 they are an embarrassment

Jon… it’s so so stupid, but “deflect” is the key word in the sentence where you highlighted that bit. They deemed that the puck didn’t “deflect”, Hellebuyck “propelled” it into his own net so that line in the rule book doesn’t come into play here.

@CamAtNoon All the matters is their own rule book. They are trying to save face at this point, with anything they can try spin. https://t.co/GIog7DvPvP
