It’s been another hazy afternoon but with a little boost from the southwest breeze temperatures have warmed into the 80s. Humidity remains in check Monday but with dew point temperatures rising some Tuesday it’ll begin to feel a bit more humid. Skies remain clear outside of the smoke Monday evening as temperatures dip into the low 60s. Temperatures will rise once again into the 80s, but cloud cover will increase ahead of a cold front and a weakening area of showers to the west.

Temperatures Sunday afternoon were a few degrees warmer than Saturday, but the sun was once again muted by the haze and smoke. While a few higher-level clouds have moved in across northwest Illinois, most of what we see in the sky is the smoke. Those smokey and hazy skies will continue Sunday night, and likely carry over into Monday as well. Our surface winds will turn to the southwest Monday, but winds aloft (jet stream winds) will remain from the northwest.

Hazy skies will continue to round-out the end of May and welcome in the month of June as temperatures hold steady in the 70s. We had plenty of sunshine, albeit hazy sunshine, Saturday afternoon with temperatures warming into the low 70s. It was a bit cooler to the east thanks to a backdoor cold front that swept across the region late Friday night. As this cleared us to the west, it also took any chance for precipitation with it during the afternoon.

Conditional severe risk for storms Thursday locally. If we do see storms form, large hail would be our biggest threat followed by damaging winds and isolated tornadoes. Storm window: 2pm-8pm. @MyStateline https://t.co/qqgvUzLXml

Nice view of the isolated showers & storms west/southwest of Beloit, WI over NW IL. The storm near Pearl City, IL (Stephenson County) will have some heavier rain with it. @MyStateline https://t.co/WFfOBNZKEj

Temperatures are warm, but at least dew points are in the 40s. @MyStateline https://t.co/rbA7SELSnf
