Over Jan Term, Sodexo has decided to make the Healthy Living station, between the Grill and the Deli, into a pasta bar. Instead of one station that caters to vegan, vegetarian, or allergy-safe diets, their new dining hall layout is designed to have every meal cater to these students’ needs. The menu program used to select meal options, called Drive, is planned by the executive chef on a four-week rotation, according to the heads of Whitworth’s Dining Hall, Megan Helm and Daniel King.

Three Whitworth seniors created a device to improve water quality after Whitworth’s Startup Weekend, which operated very similarly to the show Shark Tank. The company, Boss Moss LLC, is co-owned by Lance Dunn, Darren Melville and Ty Patterson. The story of how this company came to be started with a biotech entrepreneurship class taught by Dr. Putsky and Dr. Kegg.

From October 17 through 19, several Christian colleges came together for the “Renewing Mind and Heart” conference. The conference consisted of discussions and panels about what it means to be a Christian university and what value that holds. Reverend Dr. Katherine Douglass, a professor at Seattle Pacific University, attended the event because she wanted this topic to influence her teaching.

Indaba Coffee is now open on the corner of Knox and Monroe in Spokane. As of Saturday, Sept. 21, Indaba Coffee now has a local café for all to visit. The opening festivities lasted all day, starting at 6 a.m. and ending at 9 p.m. The opening day had many patrons who came to celebrate the opening, and the co-founder Bobby Enslow, said there were lines out the door multiple times throughout the day.

For many years, the senior class of Whitworth University has received ‘Senior Discount Cards’ which have special deals with local businesses on them. However, this year, the cards are not yet available for students to use. The graduating class of 2025 may not have received the usual discount cards on their last first day, but they can still look forward to the cards coming soon.
