The South Dakota National Guard has opened its new Readiness Center in Sioux Falls. The $22-million training center is 41,000 square feet and includes an additional 50 acres of training land. The building is named after retired Brigadier General Dean Mann. He served in the South Dakota National Guard for 33 years and was Assistant Adjutant General from 1980-1982. He lived in Sioux Falls and was a long time teacher and coach. Governor Kristi Noem said Mann lived a life of legacy.

One person is dead and another in custody after a weekend shooting at Oglala Nation Wacipi. According to a statement by the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety, there was an altercation between several males at the Friday night event. During the fight a 57-year-old male was shot several times. A teen suspect was taken into custody while trying to leave the fairgrounds, authorities said.
