Runners took their first few steps of a 100-mile race around the city limits of Hamilton in Steve Forrest's Carlisle driveway. Participants gathered just as the sun rose on a cool, cloudy Saturday on May 31 - weather some said was perfect for hitting the road. Sixteen runners registered for for the inaugural Trail Terrier Ultra Around Hamilton (TTUAH) and all were buzzing with energy and excitement as they arrived at the starting line.

Rainy weather outside didn't stop families from having a blast at the Guy B. Brown Elementary School Fun Fair Wednesday evening. The festivities were moved inside, where families could browse the bake sale, play Plinko, watch the CBY Performing Arts group showcase songs from their upcoming Matilda performance, and much more. Principal Chris Blundsdon's booth at the fair was one of the most popular at the event, which raises money for the school.

Taking mental health seriously was the core message behind the latest Empowerment Breakfast at Waterdown District High School. The May 23 event was put on by the Healthy Education About Relationships Team (HEART), spearheaded by former WDHS student Mackenzie Boers and sponsored by the local Rotary Clubs. Last year, the breakfast’s theme focused on gender-based violence and romantic relationships. This year, for the group’s fourth annual event at WDHS, the theme was mental health.
