On June 5, 2019, Josh Simpson was taken by the Miami Marlins in the 32nd round of the MLB Draft. Six years and 16 days later, the left-handed pitcher from Stafford stood on the mound at LoanDepot Park in Miami for his major-league debut. Simpson worked the final two innings of the Marlins' 7-0 loss to the Atlanta Braves Saturday. He allowed three hits and four runs - including a three-run homer by Braves' catcher Drake Baldwin in the ninth.

UNCASVILLE - Alyssa Thomas' return to Mohegan Sun Arena Wednesday was celebrated by many of the 7,864 fans that came out to see the former Connecticut Sun star for the first time as a member of the Phoenix Mercury. While the Mercury with Thomas having the kind of performance that made her a favorite here for a decade took home an 83-75 win, the struggling Sun came away with something to feel good about as they move forward. Rookie Aneesah Morrow had her coming-out party.
