    Advanced Berry Breeding (ABB) has said that its Zawadi raspberry variety is entering a ”major growth phase” across Europe. According to ABB, growers in Morocco, Spain and Portugal are scaling up production in response to rising retail demand. Morocco and Spain have been the fastest movers, it said, each securing more than 70ha and growing in their first year of commercialisation, marking ”one of the most dynamic expansions in soft fruit cultivation this season”.

    Mission Produce has reported on its results for the second quarter (Q2) of the fiscal year, with revenue rising but net income falling. Total revenue increased US$82.7mn, or 28 per cent, to US$380.3mn compared to the same period last year. The increase was primarily driven by the marketing and distribution segment, where average per-unit avocado selling prices increased 26 per cent, while volumes sold were flat.

These varieties will launch this year in every major glasshouse tomato segment, and will provide ”multi-stacked virus-resistant genes for more durable protection against ToBRFV mutations”.
