When David Souter was named to the Supreme Court, I called two of my best NH sources. Both Tom Rath, a moderate Republican, and Marty Gross, a moderate Democrat, praised him. So I concluded he would be a moderate Justice, though that inexplicably surprised the Bush WH. RIP.
