Royal Caribbean orders sixth Edge-class cruise ship in France

Florida-based cruise holding company Royal Caribbean Group has signed an agreement with French shipbuilder Chantiers de l’Atlantique to construct a sixth Edge-series ship. The cruise vessel is planned to be delivered to Royal Caribbean’s cruise line Celebrity Cruises in 2028. Edge 6 or “Xcel 2” will be the sister ship to methanol-capable, billion-dollar Celebrity Xcel, which is preparing to take its inaugural sail later this year.

Google buys offshore wind power from Vattenfall-CIP JV

Google has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Denmark’s Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) for 250 MW of energy capacity at the Zeevonk offshore wind project in the Netherlands. Under the agreement, Google will purchase 250 MW of wind power generated at the Zeevonk project to power its Dutch operations for 15 years. “Google partnered with CIP ahead of the government tender for this subsidy-free, GW-scale project. China’s first subsea cable shuttle barge hits the water

Chinese powercablespecialist Orient Cable has held the launch ceremony for what is said to be China’s first dedicated long-range heavy subsea cable shuttle barge. The barge, named Dongfang Haigong 07 (DFHG 07), is designed to transport various types of subsea cables, including those for offshore wind and interconnection projects. According to Orient Cable, the cable barge features two 9,000t turntables on deck, capable of holding up to 18,000t of cable.
TenneT launches €3 million offshore cable survey tender

Dutch offshore transmission system operator (TSO) TenneT has opened an application period for a €3 million tender for surveys of cables installed in the Dutch sector of the North Sea. Work will start in 2025 and will be performed on the export cables at the Borssele and the Hollandse Kust offshore wind farm zones and the Cobra and NorNed interconnectors.
