I woke up Feb. 2, 2015, with one of the worst hangovers of my life. Hugging the toilet, head pounding, sweat beading across my forehead, I felt nothing but pride. I'd just completed "Dry January" - the practice of abstaining from drugs and alcohol for the first 31 days of the year - and rewarded myself with a bottle of Bulleit, a bag of molly, and an all-night dance party in a warehouse. Guess who clearly didn't have a substance abuse problem?

The first few days scanning for potential matches made one thing clear: The men on Feeld present themselves with an unusual level of candor. On Hinge and Bumble, I've spent hours swiping through profiles of guys who enjoy hiking and coffee, who plan on buying a single-family home in the Excelsior as soon as their equity vests, and whose most pressing questions are whether I prefer the Ikon or Epic ski pass.

De zon kwam op boven de woestijn van Nevada toen mijn vriend me vertelde dat hij de afgelopen maanden met de huisgenoot van mijn beste vriendin had geslapen. The sun was rising over the Nevada desert when my boyfriend informed me that for the past several months, he’d been sleeping with my best friend’s roommate. His confession shouldn’t have come as a shock. I’d seen signs of their intimacy all week at Burning Man, from their legs casually touching as we shared a hookah to the excuses he kept making to stop by her camp. And as someone who’d expressly agreed to an open relationship with him, I was technically a willing participant in this triangle.

He and his wife, partnered for 15 years, had decided to open up their marriage and start seeing other people. “I’ve been in relationships my whole life, so I’ve never been on a first date,” he told me. “It sounds like a horrible nightmare, but also like something that maybe I should experience once during my lifetime. You go on dates a lot. Got any tips?”I would have chuckled if his request didn’t feel like a dig at my life choices.

In the spirit of staying present, I'm suspending my Twitter for the time being. (In the spirit of the opposite, follow me on @Instagram!)

Today is my last day at @HuffingtonPost & this summer I'm embarking on an open-ended adventure that begins in Mexico City.
