1 Introduction Sarcoidosis is considered a multisystem inflammatory disease of unknown etiology, with an estimated 8 new cases per 100,000 diagnosed annually in the United States [1]. Growing evidence suggests that sarcoidosis is more prevalent in workers exposed to respirable crystalline silica (RCS), World Trade Center dust, metal fumes, military deployment particulates, and other occupational exposures [2-6].
