    ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - On Thursday, May 8, the Rapides Parish School Board held three groundbreaking ceremonies for Alexandria schools. These three groundbreaking events were part of the District 62 bond that voters approved in April 2022. School board members, community members, school leaders, district leaders, architects and contractors all gathered at Brame Middle, Cherokee Elementary, and J.B. Nachman to celebrate the beginning of construction.

This summer camp, which started off Jake’s Place, was for children with any disability, but the Broom Tree knew these families could benefit from more. A counselor from Be Inspired Counseling & Consulting spoke with KALB about the warning signs of mental health issues to look out for, both in yourself and others. “Social distancing, kind of withdrawing,” said James Harrison, licensed professional counselor. “Not really engaging in activities we normally would.
