ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - A World War II veteran right here in Alexandria is turning 100 years old. JD Leatherman, or as people call him, “Woo”, is proudly turning 100. He lived his whole life in the same house on Old Baton Rouge Highway. “Woo” still remembers looking for arrowheads, fishing with his father when he was little, and playing baseball with his friends.

According to Cabrini, this disease affects about 7.2 million Americans ages 65 and older. Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive neurological disorder that destroys memory and cognitive function. While age is the greatest known risk factor for Alzheimer’s, the disease is not a normal part of aging.
