Do you get lost in the shiny objects that come at you every day of the year? Do you follow every shiny object that happens to flow past you in the form of emails, social media posts or anything else that looks in the least bit intriguing? Unfortunately, over the years I have followed many shiny objects down a rabbit hole that never seems to come to an end. It has cost me a lot in time and money as well.

Or does the dream of living full time in an RV excite you? It can go either way in my way of thinking — especially if you’ve never considered full time RV living before. Maybe your significant other just dropped a bombshell! She wants to retire next year, sell everything you own and buy an RV. Then the plan includes traveling all over the country and maybe if they get even more comfortable head into Mexico! Wow! What a bombshell!What would you do? So, how do you handle it?

The magical seven days of energized festivities announcing winter and the mythical Christmas messenger Olentzero is held during the popular Fiesta de Santo Tomas in Chichicastenango, Guatemala. It’s a unique blend of Mayan and Christian traditions and coincides with Saint Tomas Day on the 21st of December — leading up to the joyous Christmas in Guatemala.

Updated December 2022. Although this post was based on a trip to Guatemala during the 1990’s we find the content still relevant and interesting. We hope you do as well. During our 3 month trip thru-out Central America the one place that drew our attention was Antigua, Guatemala. Therefore one of our main goals was to travel to La Antigua, Guatemala. There was no doubt in our minds, we needed some Spanish lessons. Our one-word phrases, always in the present tense, were getting tiring, even to us.
