This year, North Port, Florida, EMS Division Chief Brian Gorski marks his 50th year in the fire-rescue field. While it wasn’t his first career choice, he says he can’t imagine having done anything different. When Gorski graduated high school in 1973, he explored his interest in marine biology by volunteering at the Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium in Sarasota, Florida. “It was a good opportunity for me. I took care of all the animals, the tanks, feeding and cleaning,” Gorski said.
