Fleet management and leasing giant Holman is calling for “significant” reform of electric van regulations on testing and tachographs, to stimulate the electric van market. The call follows a government consultation on proposed changes to the MOT testing regime and tachograph use for electric vans with a Maximum Authorised Mass (MAM) of 3.5t to 4.25t, which has now closed.

Yodel is now supporting the Retail’s Trust’s ‘respect retail’ campaign. UK and European retailers suffered an estimated £464m in lost parcel revenue during the peak shopping season between September and December last year, according to the latest research from delivery management software expert Metapack. While only 0.06% of parcels were officially declared lost, Metapack has calculated that this amounts to approximately 3.72 million missing items over the four-month period.

The DVSA has issued an alert to HGV operators that new regulations will come into force on Monday 21 April, requiring changes to the drivers’ hours rulesThere are no changes for vehicles operating solely within the UK. However, international operators must ensure that their drivers are familiar with the European Agreement Concerning the Work of Crews of Vehicles Engaged in International Road Transport (AETR) rules and that vehicles are equipped to record and store the extended tachograph data.

Iceland Foods has opened the doors to a 500,000sq ft warehouse in Warrington which will be operated by GXO Logistics. The £100m facility will employ more than 750 people. Located at Omega Park, the new site is Iceland’s largest warehouse to date. It will serve as a major hub for distributing products to over 350 Iceland stores nationwide, with the potential to expand its reach to 500 locations in the future.
