KITTERY, Maine — Communities and mental health advocates are pushing for more suicide prevention efforts on bridges connecting Maine and New Hampshire bridges after three deaths in just two weeks. The tragic events have renewed calls for stronger suicide prevention measures, such as better signage and physical barriers, on the Piscataqua River Bridge and the Sarah Mildred Long Bridge bridges.

MAINE, USA — As homeownership continues to stretch out of reach for many, dozens of existing homeowners in rural Maine are facing foreclosure, according to court documents. The recent series of foreclosure filings is related to what are known as Section 502 loans, issued by the US Department of Agriculture. The loan program is aimed at low-income, rural residents to give them a chance at home ownership. Close to $300M dollars in Section 502 loans have been administered in Maine since 2012.

BRUNSWICK, Maine — A group of survivors and supporters braved the rain Saturday in Brunswick to rally against a sobering reality of domestic abuse and violence in Maine. The rally was organized by the nonprofit Finding Our Voices over Mother's Day weekend and is part of a series of events intended to raise awareness for the many mothers and children affected by domestic violence and abuse across the state and nationwide.

PORTLAND, Maine — After her family went through the loss of a family member in a fishing accident, Liz Michaud turned grief into action by founding a non-profit aimed at preventing similar tragedies among Maine fishermen. Michaud’s nephew, Tylar Michaud, went missing in July 2023 while hauling lobster traps alone. His body was found nearly a month later. The loss shook his family and the tight-knit coastal Downeast community.
