    Five Counties Children’s Centre is planning Ready for School events to ease the transition to school for children with disabilities or exceptionalities. Events are being held on May 31 in Peterborough, June 7 in Cobourg, and June 14 in Lindsay. The aim of the Ready for School events is to help children from junior kindergarten to Grade 3 be less anxious about the return of class or adjust to starting school for the first time.

    Residents of Peterborough will again don their red pashminas and traverse the streets of the city in solidarity with Afghan women. The 15th annual Red Pashmina Walk takes place May 4 at Emmanuel United Church on George Street with Peterborough resident Heather Hedges as guest speaker. The walk, jointly hosted by the Peterborough chapter of Right to Learn Afghanistan and the Red Pashmina Campaign, raises funds to support human rights and education for Afghan women and girls.
