Two animated kids projects are among several Canada-Luxembourg co-productions to receive support from Canada Media Fund and Film Fund Luxembourg. The two funding bodies are making a joint investment of US$611,827 (CDN$882,540) in four projects—one animated feature film, one animated series and two immersive experience/extended reality installations. The money will be distributed under the umbrella of the Canada-Luxembourg Co-Development and Co-Production Incentive for Audiovisual Projects.

For more than half a century, there have been “no trespassing” signs around the fictional Hundred Acre Wood—the home of Winnie-the-Pooh and his friends—preventing curious TV producers, film executives and animators from putting their own spin on the “bear of very little brain.” Until recently, the rights acquired by The Walt Disney Company in 1961 from the estate of author A. A. Milne have prevented other production companies from creating their own Pooh-based projects.

The draw of a prank show is pretty much universal. Kids and adults alike can find humor in watching the unsuspecting victim stumble into awkward or surprising situations. That appeal is one of the reasons why prank shows are once again gaining traction, as we write about on page 34. That’s fine when you’re the viewer, but very rarely do people like to see themselves as the subject of the prank. It’s also not as common to be the person who is pulling the prank.
