Oregon softball will be en route to Oklahoma City after punching its ticket to the Women’s College World Series Saturday afternoon in Eugene. Kailee and Kedre Luschar – both Carson High School graduates – were the leadoff and No. 2 hitters, respectively, for the Ducks in both games of its 2-of-3 Super Regional series against Liberty. The Flames were coming off an upset win over No. 1 Texas A&M to asdvance out of regional play.

Douglas High School baseball had senior Jackson Ovard named to the Class 5A North all-league teams announced this week. The Tigers had a second-team selection in Grayson Kamper alongside five honorable mention nods. Carson High School had three players earn all-region honors. Ovard was chosen first-team at third base by the Class 5A North coaches.

Late Sunday night, Oregon softball’s season hung in the balance as the Ducks trailed throughout the entirety of the winner-take-all final game against Stanford. Oregon was behind for every single pitch, except the last one. Senior transfer Dezianna Patmon launched a three-run, walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Ducks a spot in the super regional behind a 10-7 win.

The Douglas High School swim and dive teams completed their seasons at the Class 5A state meet in Reno over the weekend at the Moana Springs complex. The Tiger girls finished in 13th with eight team points while the boys were 7th with 23 team points. Matthew Sutton swam in two individual events for the Tigers, finishing fifth in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:46.30 and third in the 100-yard freestyle in 48.10. In the 100-yard butterfly, junior Baylen Rowlett took seventh in 56.09.

Carson High School freshman Hannah Ingram was just over a second from winning a state title last weekend in the 100-yard butterfly. Ingram was second in 57.95, touching the wall just behind McQueen senior Shayne Patrick (56.69). Senator senior Leif Morway nearly did the same in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing in 53.11 to take second behind Coronado’s Garrett Taylor (52.16). In the girls 100-yard freestyle, Larkin Russell capped her junior season with a fourth-place finish in a time of 54.96.
