The US Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently announced a new, voluntary and nationwide test model designed to support two rapidly growing demographic groups: people living with dementia, and their unpaid caregivers. The Guiding an Improved Dementia Experience (GUIDE) Model will focus on dementia-care management and aims to improve the quality of life for people living with dementia.

Since 2022, Illinois has enacted two laws that aim to meet federal requirements for promoting health equity and are pertinent to healthcare providers. Beginning in 2025, certain licensed healthcare providers in Illinois will need to complete one hour of cultural competency training as part of their license renewal obligations. This supplements an earlier law that provides scholarships and loan repayment programs to incentivize diverse providers to relocate to underserved communities in the state.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently issued a proposed rule regarding Contract Year 2024 Policy and Technical Changes to the Medicare Advantage (MA) and Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit Programs. This proposed rule includes a range of proposals addressing popular topics, including marketing and prior authorization, along with other significant changes to utilization management, Quality Star Ratings and the Programs of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE).
