The red, white and blue led from the very start and never let it go in a 21.15 (141) to 3.4 (22) goal frenzy at Mission Whitten Oval. It was a back-and-forth start for both sides, but the seven-point advantage was the slight lead that the Bulldogs needed.

Richmond star Katie Brennan will become the AFLW’s longest-serving captain in 2024 after she was appointed to lead the Tigers for a sixth consecutive season on Tuesday. It means Brennan, 31 will have held the club captaincy in each of the competition’s nine seasons after she was the inaugural skipper of the Western Bulldogs. She will move past longtime Adelaide skipper Chelsea Randall, who stepped down from the Crows’ captaincy at the end of last season.

CO-CAPTAIN Eliza Wood has added another trophy to the cabinet. Tonight has marked the end of the 2024 VFLW season, with plenty of fresh faces joining the Navy Blue this year. A youthful side put other experienced ones up to the challenge and held their own on multiple occasions. Carlton co-captain Eliza Wood was named the 2024 Best and Fairest, polling a total of 96 votes during the home-and-away season.
