A Media Matters review of White House press briefings held so far in President Donald Trump’s second administration found that White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt called on right-wing media outlets 41% of the time, and 4 of the 5 reporters called on most were from right-wing outlets. The press briefings now include a “new media” seat which the White House has used to amplify more right-wing voices.

Donald Trump’s supporters in right-wing media, particularly at Fox News, repeatedly hyped his oft-repeated campaign promise to quickly bring down consumer prices, and especially the cost of groceries, if he was reelected. These promises included immediate price decreases, with Trump saying during the campaign, “When I win, I will immediately bring prices down, starting on day one,” and, “Prices will come down.

In separate segments, Fox News legal editor Kerri Kupec Urbahn and network contributor Jonathan Turley both falsely suggested that the Biden administration is fighting against Virginia’s purge of 1,600 voters to push for noncitizens to vote.

They’re saying anything they don't like is oftentimes misinformation or disinformation, even though Mayorkas himself came out a couple of days ago and said, “You know what? Since 2023, Aurora has reportedly been trying to force CBZ Management to fix multiple derelict apartment complexes which the company has claimed that it could not repair due to activity by Tren de Aragua, a Venezuelan gang. Right-wing media’s penchant for xenophobic fearmongering has once again contributed to threats of real-world violence, this time after outlets helped spread a racist claim about Haitian migrants in Springfield, Ohio, that was pushed by Republican vice presidential nominee Sen. JD Vance (R-OH). Since then, Springfield has fielded dozens of bomb threats, schools have been forced to close or evacuate, and at least one Haitian resident reported vandalism.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s impending move to crash out of the presidential race and endorse Donald Trump is fitting given that his bid was a cynical and transparent right-wing media operation intended to help return the former president to the White House. Kennedy, a notorious anti-vaccine activist and conspiracy theorist, plans to end his independent presidential campaign and throw his support to Trump, perhaps at a planned event on Friday, NBC News first reported.
