A man has been arrested in connection with an early morning stabbing that occurred near Fishbowl Drive in Homosassa on Tuesday. The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office arrested 25-year-old Jacob Earl Keefer and charged him with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon without the intent to kill. In a statement, the Citrus County Sheriff's Office said the incident occurred a little before 3 a.m. Tuesday.

A Port Charlotte man who the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office crime team caught trafficking drugs outside a Crystal River restaurant back in 2023 is going to spend the next 30 years behind bars, authorities said this week. Robert Paul Kowanko, a 50-year-old Port Charlotte man, was sentenced Wednesday to 30 years in the Florida Department of Corrections, court records state. He must serve a minimum mandatory time of 15 years, according to a court order, and will be fined at least $315,000.
