Sometimes I have a moment where I am overcome with joy and pride for this community. In March I was lucky enough to attend the groundbreaking for the Pearline M. Bransford Complex and Ellie G’s Dream World – Franklin’s first inclusive playground. Our community has experienced great loss in the beginning of this year. Five of our community icons passed away. Ronald Ligon, Ernie Bacon, Louise Lynch, Billy Knight and Anne Rutherford. Our prayers go out to those families for their loss. As we start the year with a new set of goals and intentions for what we want to accomplish, I hope we can all learn from those that have gone before us and made it their life’s work to leave this community better than they found it.

Our holiday edition is one that I look forward to each year. Our Joy of Giving section celebrates our area nonprofits which is the backbone of our community. Doing for others what they cannot do for themselves - that is the spirit of Christmas. It is also the essence of what makes Franklin the wonderful city it is. We are blessed to live in a community that strives to help fill the needs of its residents and cheers on local businesses and newcomers alike.

This Thanksgiving, as we count our blessings, we want to say a heartfelt THANK YOU to our community that rallies around their hometown newspaper. Thank you to our readers who subscribe to our publications. And thank you to our advertisers and sponsors who choose to spend their dollars with us and support us as friends in the community. We all share a common goal of making Williamson County a better place to live, work and play.
