In recent years, the urgency of addressing climate change has led to a growing interest in carbon dioxide removal (CDR) as a tool for combatting this existential challenge. As the concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere continues to rise, it's essential that we not only reduce emissions but also actively remove excess CO2.

Climate change is one of the most pressing challenges of our time, driven primarily by the increasing levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere—particularly carbon dioxide (CO₂). While mitigating future emissions is crucial, addressing excess CO₂ already present in the atmosphere is equally important. This is where carbon dioxide removal (CDR) solutions come into play. Capturing CO₂ directly from the atmosphere and storing it permanently can be a game-changer for fighting climate change.

Nearly three-quarters of our “blue planet” is covered by vast expanses of oceans. Not only do these seawaters play a crucial role in regulating the climate and weather patterns on Earth, they absorb nearly 30 percent of human carbon dioxide pollution. But the increase of greenhouse gas emissions in the Anthropocene era is pushing our oceans, and the planet's carbon cycle, to the brink.

Geostationary satellites, like NOAA’s Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES), remain fixed over a specific region, constantly monitoring for new fires and sending updates every few minutes. This fixed position means areas prone to wildfires are constantly watched and allow us to more easily answer questions like “Where are the wildfires in Canada?” or “Where did the LA fires start?”.
