Waiting lists for gynaecology appointments across the UK have more than doubled since February 2020, BBC research reveals. Records show around three-quarters of a million (755,046) women's health appointments are waiting to happen - up from 360,400 just before the pandemic. This would suggest around 630,000 people - at the very least - are on the list to be seen for problems that range from fibroids and endometriosis to incontinence and menopause care.

The number of people taking ADHD medication is at a record high – and the NHS is feeling the strain as it tries to diagnose and treat the condition. Since 2015, the number of patients in England prescribed drugs to treat ADHD has nearly trebled, and BBC research suggests that it would take eight years to assess all the adults on waiting lists. Last year, ADHD was the second-most viewed condition on the NHS website.

It would take more than eight years for the NHS to see all adult patients waiting for ADHD assessments in many parts of the UK, a BBC investigation has found. Through Freedom of Information requests, the BBC has identified 24 services in that position, and nearly 200,000 people waiting. The Royal College of Psychiatrists said no-one should be made to wait years for life-changing care. The new Labour government says delays to ADHD diagnosis are part of a “broken NHS” - which it is working to fix.
