Straight away she says we should be surprised: Iranian women don’t cook; “We work, we are successful”. It transpires she’s in England, cooking for imminent guests. She talks us through the recipe for Iranian Ash – a traditional noodle soup – as she explains her precarious flight from an abusive husband who had the power to cancel her passport. But it’s an underwhelming performance on the whole.

It’s an energetic and creative show which never loses focus and is spawned from careful research.
