Mattie’s Strudel Haus in Bath recently announced their plan on social media to shift to a more flexible setup. Although business will continue, the new setup entails closing their brick-and-mortar establishment. The bakery, which currently resides at 126 W. Main St., Bath, will be open until Wednesday, April 30. “After [that], we are trying to rent a certified church kitchen to continue making our strudels, langos, Hungarian rolls, etc.,” the business explained in their Facebook post.

On Tuesday, Nov. 12, Bath Borough Council unanimously approved the adoption of the borough’s 2025 budget, maintaining the current 17.45 millage rate and ensuring no property tax increase for residents. The 2025 budget includes a memorandum noting that while no property tax hike is planned, the Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System Fund is expected to issue its first Storm Water Utility fee within the first or second quarter of 2025.

On Saturday, Nov. 2, a brush fire started on Blue Mountain in Lehigh Township. Due to the spread of the fire, air support began on Sunday, Nov. 3, with helicopters arriving from Gettysburg. Additionally, Northampton County Emergency Management also set up a mobile command unit to assist with operations and planning.

Since 2016, Northampton resident George Stubits has been helping to spread awareness during Breast Cancer Awareness Month—with his beard. Every October, George goes to Bucks & Babes in Bath to get his beard dyed hot pink in support of the health campaign. “I remember when [George] first asked me to color his beard…and pink! I was shocked, but when he told me why, I thought it was so thoughtful to honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month!” said Shea Missmer, owner of Bucks & Babes.

The Pennsylvania State Police Troop M-Bethlehem has made an arrest in the theft of two outdoor air conditioner units from the HanoverView Animal Hospital. On Monday, July 22, Troopers were dispatched to the HanoverView Animal Hospital in East Allen Township for the report of two exterior commercial air conditioner units that had been stolen during the overnight hours. The air conditioner units were broken into several pieces and loaded into a vehicle.
