Derek, a seasoned thrifter, calls its Williston store his "second home." This is also the week Seven Days publishes a guide to another rapidly expanding business sector: legal cannabis.

Seven Days won more editorial awards than any other publication in the region at the 2025 New England Newspaper Convention in Portland, Maine, on March 29. The competition, hosted by the New England Newspaper & Press Association, honors outstanding work by newspapers and online news outlets. Read on for a list of our first-place finishers. In most cases, Seven Days competed against other large-circulation weeklies.

click to enlarge Financial literacy wasn't something I studied in school, but I've picked up enough over the years to get by. Fortunately, both of my kids went to Winooski High School, where completion of a personal finance class is a graduation requirement. I can see it paying dividends already. Both of them have jobs and are actively saving for college and a sibling trip to Europe.

There's nothing quite like receiving money for something you made. It's a thrill — and incredibly empowering. You can also learn a lot in the process of making the sale. To give Vermont young people a taste of this experience, three organizations that support kids, local businesses and entrepreneurship got together to create the area's first Young Entrepreneurs' Fair. Organizing partners Generator, Seven Days and Davis Studio met for months to plan this unique event.

click to enlarge It's over. After publishing a Vermont-related social media post in every issue of the newspaper for nearly 16 years, Seven Days is calling it quits. The final "X Post of the Week," formerly "Tweet of the Week," ran last week. The Love & Marriage Issue seems an appropriate place to announce the breakup: Not all relationships last forever. There are lots of reasons this one ended. Elon Musk, for one.
