Rocktown head coach Anthony Marasco could tell his team was a little on edge during halftime of a 3-1 win over Waynesboro in the Region 3C quarterfinals on Friday. The top-seeded Raptors entered the half in a one-goal deficit. The eighth-seeded Little Giants had found themselves with an advantage after sophomore David Madrid Lara capitalized on a penalty kick with just under 23 minutes to play in the first half.

It’s been over a month since James Madison closed out its spring schedule, but there hasn’t been a chance for the coaching staff to take a day off. The transfer portal opened just days after the Dukes’ spring game and the coaches immediately went into it trying to lure recruits to Harrisonburg. While the Bobcats understood their season would extend past the second week of May, the Dukes knew that they didn’t have the same luck or destination. A series win to end the year was a bonus, but at 17-38 (10-20 Sun Belt), JMU closed its season with its worst record under Ikenberry.
