While it looked like Vancouver was about to claim their first-ever win over Cavalry, thanks to a first-half strike from new signing Nicolas Mezquida, last year’s CPL Golden Boot winner made a goal from nothing in the 95th minute with a well-taken shot from outside the 18-yard box.

Substitute striker Guillermo Martinez scored both of Pumas’ goals in the second half against a Cavalry side that had gone down to 10 men following a red card to Jay Herdman on the cusp of half-time.

    In another defining moment for a club that continues to defy the odds, Cavalry FC earned a 2-1 come-from-behind win over Pumas UNAM on Thursday night at Langford’s Starlight Stadium, in the opening round of the CONCACAF Champions Cup. Second-half goals from Charlie Trafford and Tobias Warschewski were enough for the reigning Canadian Premier League champs to overcome Pumas’ opener from Santiago Lopez on the cusp of halftime.

    Calgary, AB – Cavalry FC of the Canadian Premier League (CPL) has signed forward Jay Herdman to its 2025 roster. Herdman joins the club on a permanent basis after a successful loan spell in Calgary in 2024. The forward made eight appearances for Cavalry after signing on loan from Whitecaps FC 2, the Vancouver Whitecaps’ MLS Next Pro side, last September.
