I've been hearing a lot on the news about how it's insulting for Americans to fly another country’s flag. I disagree. I'm not insulted when I see someone flying another country's flag. I've seen a house flying a Finnish flag. You see restaurants flying the flag of the country's food they're serving. People have a right to be proud of their heritage. If I had a flag of my heritage, I’d fly it. I'm a proud American but I'm also proud of my heritage.

After hearing about plans for a military parade to honor the 250th anniversary of the founding of the U.S. Army on June 14, which is also President Donald Trump’s birthday, I was reminded of similar parades in Russia, China, and North Korea. With President Donald Trump's plans on tariffs, I wonder what countries or items will have them. I've noticed a lot of things are made in India, Thailand, Vietnam, and other countries where it's cheaper to make due to low wages. If they are, the companies will just go to another country where they can get cheap labor and bigger profits. When Trump’s talking about tariffs on automobiles, I wonder about the places where Teslas are made.

I feel so sorry for those federal government employees being fired by Elon Musk and their families. I don't know where so many are going to find a new job. I heard there could be up to 1 million let go as a result of the actions by Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency. If the government wants to save money, it should start at the top. I wonder how much Musk is being paid. Also, it seems like every year, Congress gives itself a raise.

After hearing how many people are in the hospital due to preventable illnesses, I wondered why — when it's so preventable. I know some people don't believe in vaccines while others listen to false stories about them. To me, it makes no sense. My thought is, just use common sense. I know I was so glad when I got my COVID-19 shot. Growing up, my parents made sure we kids got all our shots to keep us healthy. When new ones came out, we got them.
