The story of more-than-human rights is one of reconnection. At a time when so many of us are feeling the deep loneliness of the human condition in the Anthropocene, speaking about nature in the moral language of rights is an attempt to respectfully reconnect with the living and breathing Earth. The discourse of rights is by no means the only or the most appropriate language for building that bridge. But it is one of the most compelling narratives about connection that we have at our disposal.
