    Good morning, Southern West Virginia! We’re waking up to fog across parts of our region today. Some communities are experiencing dense fog, while others are dealing with more patchy coverage. Thankfully, the fog is expected to mix out quickly after sunrise, giving us a few dry hours to start the day. However, don’t get too comfortable—rain returns this afternoon. Thunderstorms are expected to develop across the area, and while most will be typical for this time of year, a few could become strong.

    WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): The brush fire risk remains elevated through the afternoon, again Wednesday and then again Friday. The burn ban continues, yes, but with low humidity, sunshine and a breezy wind, we are particularly vulnerable to the spread of brush fires through about 6-7 p.m. this afternoon. Wednesday and Friday will be a carbon-copy of each other with dry, warm and low humidity days.

OVERALL PATTERN: A high pressure will ensure we are warm and dry this week, while rain returns this weekend ahead of what will become a very strong Plains storm. There will likely be ponding of water in spots, but not a widespread flooding event with damage and road closures (like we saw in mid-February).
