WASHINGTON, (Eye Radio) – United States President Donald Trump’s administration is proposing to cut funding for United Nations peacekeeping missions, citing recent failures in operations across Africa and the Middle East, including in Mali, Lebanon, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The U.S. is the largest financial contributor to the UN, responsible for 22% of its $3.7 billion core budget and 27% of the $5.6 billion peacekeeping budget, according to Reuters news agency.

FANGAK, JONGLEI STATE, (Eye Radio) – The National Examination Council (NEC) has revealed the cancellation of results of 134 primary school candidates in Fangak County in Jonglei State over what it terms a serious breach of examination rules and regulations. Speaking at the 20th Extraordinary Meeting which published the results on Tuesday, NEC Secretary-General Simon Nyok Deng said the decision affects students from four schools, all located in Fangak County.

MALAKAL, (Eye Radio) – Members of the Chollo community representing four counties in Upper Nile State have raised deep concern over ongoing armed violence in their areas which has displaced 5,000 people and created dire humanitarian situation. The group including political leaders raised the issue following violence that it blamed on the SPLA-IO forces and armed allied militia against the position of Necessary Unified Forces in the region.
