    A state House committee on Wednesday will review a bill inspired by fallen Raleigh police officer Gabriel Torres, who died in the 2022 Hedingham shooting. Torres, 29, who lived in the Hedingham neighborhood, was on his way to work in his personal vehicle when he was shot on Oct. 13, 2022. He was one of five people who died when a 15-year-old gunman opened fire. North Carolina law does not currently extend death benefits to law enforcement officers on their way to or from work.

The final period featured six goals total, including the late game winner from Martin Necas on the power play. Necas shot deflected off the skate of a Stars' defender and into the net with 2:07 remaining in the back-and-forth affair. Andrei Svechnikov added an empty-net goal in the final seconds.
