The Punchers and Cowgirls will host the District 29-2A Tournament on Monday and Tuesday, April 21-22. The regional tourney is scheduled for May 9-10 in Corpus Christi, followed by the UIL Class 2A State Tournament in San Antonio on May 15-16.

    SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The Mason High School football team will be looking for a new head football coach and athletic director, after parting ways with Michael McLeod this week. McLeod served as the Punchers’ head football coach and AD since 2019. Before he was promoted, McLeod was an assistant under former Punchers head coach and AD Kade Burns, who guided the team to state championships in 2011 and 2018.

    SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The No. 7 Angelo State University softball team will embark on the final road trips of the season when the Belles travel to New Mexico this week. ASU opens the road trip with a doubleheader against Eastern New Mexico beginning at 3 p.m. CST Wednesday in Portales, New Mexico. After that, the Belles will head to Silver City, N.M. on Friday for another doubleheader against Western New Mexico. The Belles are 37-9 overall and 28-8 in the Lone Star Conference.

    SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The San Angelo Central High School girls gymnastics team celebrated a 24th-straight regional title Saturday, and the Central boys took second at the Odessa Permian High School gymnasium. The Central girls finished with 232.55 points, followed by Abilene Wylie (215.0), and Permian (211.55). The Central and Wylie girls advanced to the state meet back at Permian on April 25-26.
