    May 29 was exactly two years of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Presidency. One thing is for sure, I am sure there would be some times in his quiet moments when the president would be asking himself if indeed what he is getting now or what he sees, that confronts the nation, was as he had anticipated. The nation’s hydra-headed challenges can break the resolve of anyone, especially given the fact that the people have been suffering for so long and therefore can hardly afford to take any more excuses.

    At last common sense has prevailed. How can compulsion, coercion and democracy be compatible? How can a presiding officer of the National Assembly, the bastion of democracy, conceive the thought of raising a bill on compulsory voting in a democracy? Not even during military rule was an idea as absurd as this muted. Does this not speak to the calibre of people who occupy the so-called democratically elected offices?

    For some inexplicable reasons all the dramatis personae involved in what looked like a scene from a Nollywood film in Ibadan, that has now cost a vibrant and budding young man his life, all chose to be ‘mad’ at the same time. Except of course, the innocent children-occupants in a car driven by a ‘mad’ man; their father. Who, except a ‘mad’ man, can be that reckless with his children in the car?

    The recent bungled Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has expectedly attracted so much criticisms and condemnations from across the country, especially in Lagos and the five eastern states that the so-called glitch impacted. There are also conspiracy theories, some farfetched and others not so.
